The Project Management Professional® (PMP®) exam is evolving to keep up with the ever-changing world of project management. The exam allows project managers to earn one of the most revered certifications in the industry. Starting Jan. 1, 2021, the Project Management Institute (PMI) is making enhancements that will significantly change the exam format.
Many project managers will want to take the exam before the end of 2020, ahead of the changes. This is desirable because the current material is well known, and candidates will be tested on content that is familiar to them. There is also a continuing education requirement after passing the PMP exam, meaning that project managers who take the exam before it changes will still learn the latest and most relevant industry knowledge.
With the exam changes, PMI has also decided to change how their partner organizations can help project managers prepare for the exam. They are standardizing some of the exam preparation by creating the new Authorized Training Partner Program. Providers who are partnered under the current Registered Education Provider (REP) program will need to reapply to become an Authorized Training Partner (ATP).
EduMind, a global education leader, has partnered with PMI since 2013 under the current REP program. We are excited to announce that we are continuing this partnership and we are now an approved ATP for the PMP exam. EduMind is excited to help students pass the new version of the exam. Our current pass rates are 98 percent, and should a student not pass on the first attempt, our Live Online and Onsite courses feature a free repeat opportunity.
Roughly 50 percent of the new PMP exam will include questions on the Agile and Hybrid methods. This is a significant change from the previous exam. There are also now only three domains (PMI.org, 2020). These changes will better represent the current trends of the project management industry. It is exciting to see that PMI continues to be a leader in project management and we look forward to our continued partnership.
Change can be intimidating, but you have options: Take the exam under the current, familiar format or prepare for the new exam. Either way, you will feel more prepared and comfortable with a trusted partner and guide to help you along the way. No matter when you decide to take the exam, EduMind is excited to take this journey with you.
