Dr. Gallegos, Arch D

Dr. Gallegos Mr. Gallegos attended the University of Notre Dame where he earned a Bachelor of Architecture. He then attended the University of Colorado where he earned a Master of Architecture in Urban Design. He also attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa where he earned an Architecture Doctorate and he was designated a visiting scholar. Mr. Gallegos is a licensed architect in Colorado and New Mexico and has practiced architecture, urban design, and established a construction company. He established a certificate program in Design-Build education at the University of Colorado in the College of Architecture and Planning, where he was also chair of the department of architecture. He currently holds the rank of Associate Professor of Architecture with tenure at the University of Colorado and is on a leave of absence. He is currently directing the Design Planning Assistance Center at the University of New Mexico in the School of Architecture and Planning and has been designated an Associate Professor of Research.  He is directing community outreach programs that will provide design and construction options to a wide range of community interests in underserved communities.

Mr. Keelan Kaiser,

Dr. Gallegos Keelan Kaiser is an architect licensed in the state of Illinois and has been a practicing architect as well as a university professor for his entire career. He completed is M.Arch. in 1993 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and has practiced and taught in Lincoln, Chicago, and Riverside. He currently is the Architecture Program director at California Baptist University in Riverside, CA and continues a research/consulting practice with Serena Sturm Architects in Chicago. In his consulting practice he contributes to the pre-design, programming, schematic design and sustainability/net positive strategies with private environmental and corporate clients of the firm.

Ms. kirk, Associate AIA

Ms. kirk Margaret Kirk is an award-winning designer educated in New York City and Florence, Italy, with extensive experience in design, construction, and project management. She is a Certified Passive House Consultant and is the Regional Representative for the California/ Pacific Region for PHIUS (Passive House Institute US). An architecture faculty member at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, she is a former faculty member at the Pratt Institute and the School of Visual Arts in New York City.  She teaches building technology and construction, media and communication technology, design studios and interdisciplinary design courses.  She currently has her own consultancy practice, studio 341-b.

Ms. Koosmann, NCARB

Ms. Koosmann Anna L Koosmann is an architect, educator, and Fulbright scholar with award-winning experience working in U.S. architecture firms and teaching internationally. Receiving a cum laude for BS in Architecture and Art History Minor from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, her career began at SOM Chicago, before moving to the Pacific Northwest for graduate school. At the University of Washington in Seattle, she enrolled in the HUD-awarded, community futures design-build studio, working closely with the Yakama Nation Housing Authorities to design and construct energy efficient, culturally relevant, affordable homes on the reservation. After receiving a Master of Architecture, Anna worked professionally for a Seattle-based firm for several years, and co-founded a grassroots design-build coalition, before moving overseas to co-teach and establish the first Filipino-led, design-build university program in the Philippines. Her Fulbright research received an EDRA CORE award in 2018 for her work spanning nearly 3 years living and teaching in the Philippines. As a former Assistant Professor at the University of Arizona, Anna taught professional practice courses and co-instructed design-build studios. She has initiated design-build collaborations with culturally-diverse and economically-challenged communities in the U.S. and abroad. She has also consulted on small, community projects, like a mobile art gallery, and an organic juice bar and community space. In addition to her architectural practice, she is an active artist with exhibited artworks and temporary, site-specific installations, domestically and internationally.

Ms. Smith,

Dr. Gallegos Ms. Smith has over 30 years experience practicing Architecture with publicly funded projects as well as private sector work. After receiving a Bachelor’s degree and Masters degree in Architecture from Tulane University Ms. Smith has been or is currently licensed to practice Architecture in ten states. From 1990 until 1999, Smith served as Louisville’s City Architect, overseeing capital improvements and operations for more than 150 city-owned buildings. In 1999 Ms. Smith founded Civic Consultants Inc. Civic has provided Architectural services for municipal buildings and planned communities as well as worked on large teams for projects such as the KFC YUM Arena and HOPE VI HUD developments. Ms. Smith served on the Kentucky Board of Architecture from 2001 until 2014, allowing her to also serve on many NCARB committees including the education committee, the ARE committee, and the Practice Analysis Survey committee. This opportunity also led to Ms. Smith serving on NAAB teams for six years. Ms. Smith continues to practice with her firm Civic, speak nationally about her expertise in affordable, resilient, and sustainable design, as well as teach at Sullivan University in the College of Technology and Design.
